im in a disaster recovery situation , when i want to recovery my files from system recovery backups, system recovery need password and i forgot that password. what can i do? plz help me.
Hi
I have installed symantec system recovery 2013 on a windows 2012 server. It is doing a nightly backup to an external 1/2 TB drive.
This is a full backup with incrementals and is set to create a new recovery point weekly. I have told it to automatically optimize storage and set a limit of 400 GB so as to leave some head room for safety sake.
The issue that i'm experiencing is that it will run for a few days then i will start getting failure notifications saying:
"Date: 29/09/2014 23:09:03
Notification Type: Info
Priority: High
Description: Error EBAB03F1: Following Operating System error occurred while performing requested operation: 'The operation was canceled by the user.'
Info 6C8F1C2F: Recovery point creation for job 'Drive Backup of RECOVERY (*:\), OS (C:\), DATA (E:\)' was cancelled by the user.
Details: The operation was canceled by the user."
Clearly this is not being cancelled by the user, i believe the issue may be a size issue. I think that the optimization cannot happen unless there more than 1 full sets of backups with incrementals. Is this the issue? There is currently 40GB available before the size limit set comes into effect and the last set of incrementals totalled less than 5GB.
I have tried deleteing and recreating the job but am getting the same issue. What are the rule of thumb recomendations for backup drives?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Hi everyone.
I used to use Symantec ghost to clone PC's here and then restore to more PC's to join our domain. I would then use Ghost walker to change the SID's of the new PC's so as to avoid any conflicts.
I have heard that this same process can now be done with Windows 8 machines using Symantec System Recovery 2013 but have found it impossible to find any info on how to do this een after going through the manual.
Can this be done with this software? Most references on the interent tend to be for a single clone on to a harddrive to be used as a backup rather than deploying the newly created image to several other PC's on the same network.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Nick
On FileConnect, I can see the following SSR files:
Sym_System_Recovery_2013_11.0.2.49853_English_Recovery_Disk.zip 811.2 MB
Sym_System_Recovery_2013_11.0.2.49853_Multilingual_Product.zip 709.5 MB
Sym_System_Recovery_2013_11.0.2.49853_Multilingual_Recovery_Disk.zip 1.3 GB
What, exactly, are the differences among these?
I would like to download the base product and create a new recovery USB drive - which file am I supposed to download?
Thanks!
I need help. I've tried everything posted here but when I'm trying to connect to client i get following error:
Possible Causes:
1)Computer is not connected to the network.
2)Firewall of the target computer is ON.
3)Supported Backup Exec System Recovery or Symantec System Recovery client is not installed on the target computer.
4)User credentials are incorrect.
5)UAC (User Access Control) security policy is enabled on the computer.
1. Computer is connected to network
2. I disabled firewall, added exceptions to TCP port 135 and to VProSvc.exe and VProTray.exe
3. Cient is installed (server sees that client is installed on target computer)
4. User credentials are correct DOMAINNAME\user and password
5. UAC is disabled
And i still get that error
SSR 2013 is installed on Windows Server 2012 R2
Agent is manually installed on Windows 8.1 64 bit (deploying didn't work)
I am having the issue with Windows Server 2000, I restored the system with Ghost 2003, after restoring, Windows does not boot. I checked internet for solution and find several method to boot Windows, one method was to run Ghreboot which did not work, and then Gdisk which also not giving me any result, Its show only one Drive with one partition. will anyone help me out how I start windows. Please note that Computer hung up while the status bar show "Windows is Starting".
Thanks in Advance
About a week ago a client's server started reporting backup status unknown to our RMM application.
I wrote it off as a hiccup, schedule a reboot and cleaned the SSR logs (SSR shows complete backup sucess with no missed jobs via visual graph).
After 2 reboots however the issue persisted.
Upon checking more indepth, SSR is showing a visual success, and the Windows Even logs are being written.
I proceed to delete the SSR log file, changed the SSR log file path and max size, and I cleared the Windows Event Log.
I've also run Liveupdated before and after the reboot to ensure the package is current and up-to-date.
The issue being even after all the the above, this is all i get for event notifications.
Please not that SSR is generating Windows App Log notifications.

I need to perform a dail FULL backup of our data on a server (2012). The software performs the first backup as full then incremental there after. I need full daily. I have other versions of SSR and it is able to perform full daily backups. Am I missing something?
I have a continuing problem with my on-site and off-site external drives where the two seperate drives might have different file sizes for the same backup set. One example is Our main file server backup for on-site might be 200GB and on the Off-site, it could be 400GB. I have the option checked so SSR managed the recovery points. I have formatted on-site and off-site drives and reinstalled SSR thinking it will fix the problem. However, last week it seems SSR is not clearing the off-site drives. Our on-site drive is sitting at 800GB and a couple days ago I got a warning that a backup couldnt go to off-site because it was out of space. The drive is a 2TB drive. Somehow the off-site drive managed to fill up while the on-site is pretty much staying a constant size. Also I noticed on some of the different backup sets for the various servers is a folder called "File Backup Data". Sometimes the server folder on the on-site will have this in it while the off-site does not and vice versus.
So my question is, how do I keep SSR from over taking my off-site drive and what is this "File Backup Data" folder and why isn't this folder on both on-site and off-site drives?
Hello,
We are testing for a few customers the restore procedure for the first time. Those customers have made backups with Symantec System Recovery over the past 3 years.

I hope i provided enough information to get to a solution.
When there is more information required i will directly add it.
Thank you for reading and helping us out.
I currently have a license for Symantec System Recovery 2013 and it seem to be working fine on a NAS (Windows Storage Server 2012 64 bit). I have not yet had a need to do a Restore.
I plan to purchase a new NAS Server almost identical to my existing NAS. The new NAS will have Windows Storage Server 2013 R2 64 bit as the Operating System. I did not see Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 listed as a compatible OS.
Is Symantec System Recovery 2013 compatible with Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 64 bit?
Thanks in Advance.
Recently the external drive I use for backups (a USB connected Dell Expansion Drive) failed. Today I received a replacement (same type drive). I choose to delete the original whole drive backup job and created a new one. I also had a file backup job but elected to simply edit it. The SSR2013 software defaulted to the original destination spec for both of these jobs and indicated that the target destination was not available. So I used the browse function to select the drive and folder. I successfully ran both jobs. However the SSR2013 Home screen indicates Attention Needed and the subject status. I should also add that the drive letter and drive name are unchanged. This means I don't get that satisfying little green check on the SSR2013 icon on the toolbar. How do I get SSR2013 to understand that all is well now?
Win 7-64 SSR 2013 11.0.2.49853 up to date.
I have used Ghost since version 1 and love it. Ghost has never failed me. Now I have a 3tb and Ghost does not suport 3Tb GPT so I and trying to use SSR.
When I try to defind a new backup, SSR does NOT see my 3Tb dirve either. I have searched and can not find any solution.
Help please!
About the SSR os backup ,It used many memory, the following were the monitor log about Before running(before 06:00:01), Running(06:00:01~~06:05:01) , After running(after 06:06:01) for the SSR os backup.
Is it normal status?
Please help me,
Thanks

When using SSR 2013 to backup and restore the domain PCs, is it need to exit domain before backup and join the domain after the PC is restored, or SSR 2013 only recover the system files and other folders, no change to the domain relationship?
Thanks for your help!
Hi,
The BESR job is failing with the following error:
(-- The job failed with the following error: The directory is invalid.
What could be the reason behind this error?
How can I solve it?
Regards,
Hi All,
I am trying this software out for a client and looking for some help on the best way to set it up. Here is what we want to achieve:
1x Server to backup
3x 1TB USB drives to rotate for backups
Basically we want the server to be backed up daily as long as any one of the drives is connected. Similar sort of option to the built-in Windows Server option where you can create a backup drive pool. I have looked through the user guide but couldn't pinpoint anything helpful there (I may have missed it?)
Thanks in advance
I am new to SSR, but am a long time Ghost user.
Win 7-64 SSR 2013 11.0.2.49853 Desktop up to date.
During the initial backup of a 2Tb drive there was a power failure after 6 hours of backup. I check the backup destination and no backup information was written to the HD. So I restarted the backup. After a short while I check the backup destination disk and there was a 850Mb .v2i file written to the disk. In addition the source disk has a _VTrack folder and a VTrackDiskControl.ctl file.
Question:
1. What does SSR write to the source disk in _VTrack folder and a VTrackDiskControl.ctl file?
2. Does SSR "resume" (like an incremental backup) the backup after an error or power failure? Should I remove the v2i file?
3. When the backup is complete will the source disk still have the _VTrack folder and a VTrackDiskControl.ctl files? Are they only temporary?
i have installed SSR monitor tool and add some ssr agent on it on this tool only full image backup status is showing not showing file folder backup
status on the ssr monitor tool. pleae help me how to see\ monitor only file folder backup status from ssr monitor tool.
Bonjour,
